J'aurais vraiment aimé que l'album sorte en DVD-A, histoire de proposer du neuf à ceux qui ont déjà l'album (même si les 3/4 sont déjà disponibles sur les DVD-A de Stupid Dream et de Lightbulb Sun)...

Mais bon, tant mieux pour les ceusses qui n'avaient pas encore l'album car il est vraiment terrible !

Carrément ! Le son est dément, l'image et le montage impeccables, la set-list parfaite et, cerise sur le gâteau, les photos du livret de l'édition limitée sont superbes (ce qui est un minimum, vu le prix) !

En ce moment, je fait une fixation sur Steven Wilson : Porcupine Tree et I.E.M. en boucle ! C'est brillant !

Tout est nickel oui ! Mais... J'ai l'impression que souvent la voix de WILSON est sous-mixée, voire parfois presque inaudible... Pas vous ?

Prior to the DVD release there will be a special screenings of the film in the Prince Charles Cinema at London’s Leicester Square on September 2nd and at the IFC Center in New York on September 21st. Steven shall be at both screenings and will be available to answer questions from the audience about the film during a Q&A session which will follow the film. He will be joined by Lasse at the New York screening.

A limited number of tickets for these special evenings are available to purchase from http://www.princecharlescinema.com (London) and Burning Shed (New York). Tickets for London cost £10 (+75p booking fee) and tickets for the New York cost $15.

The 2 disc set comes packaged in a digibook with a 65 page booklet featuring photography by Lasse and Carl Glover, Steven’s long-time art collaborator, in a hard slip case. The second disc features a host of extras including a 31 minute film of Bass Communion and Pig live in Mexico City, the promo video for Harmony Korine, two trailers, 6 audio out-takes from the album recording sessions and more. Insurgentes is a musical road movie that follows the making of the solo record of the same name, and is a portrait of an increasingly rare artist who works with music and media out of love and not for fame and fortune, persisting in making art on his own terms in a world where 'throw away' mentality is increasingly becoming the norm.

Hoile has described the project as ‘starting out as a small side project to Steven Wilson's solo album’ yet ‘as the project developed and more and more people got involved, we realised that we had the potential to create a great documentary that could stand on its own feet.’

Insurgentes explores music and the album as art form, and applying the same aesthetic vision through the writing, performance, production, artwork, lyrics, videos and beyond. The film looks into the issues of creating, packaging and marketing music in an era when iPods, mp3's and download culture are changing and eroding perceptions of exactly what an album is supposed to sound and look like.

"My fear is that the current generation of kids who're being born into this information revolution, growing up with the Internet, cell phones, iPods, this download culture, 'American Idol,' reality TV, prescription drugs, PlayStations — all of these things kind of distract people from what's important about life, which is to develop a sense of curiosity about what's out there.” (Steven Wilson, MTV News)

It's this curiosity that takes the artist around the world to find inspiration to create and record his music.

Through travels to different cultures and continents we meet with other personalities in the industry, including Mikael Akerfeldt from Opeth, the Israeli superstar Aviv Geffen and the legendary producer Trevor Horn, and hear different opinions on the current and future state of music. The result, as Lasse remarks, is ‘both a portrait of Steven as an artist but also a look at today’s download culture and the effects it has on the artists trying to create and share what is truly in their hearts and minds.’

Insurgentes also follows Steven back to his roots and upbringing and what led to him becoming a musician, from humble beginnings in the suburbs of London to touring the world as a successful artist, working with many other established artists, and creating a lasting legacy.

When I was a teenager I was experimenting with all sorts of things, including songwriting, electronic music, psychedelic and progressive music..etc.. and made hours an...d hours of primitive recordings. Some of this fed in to the early PT cassette releases, but I've never actually tried to compile a whole disc of music from this era. Normally I wouldn't let any of this music out of the archive, since it's pretty primitive and amateurish in many ways, but since the film talks about how I started to make music, and has a few clips of my early efforts, it seemed logical to extend this idea through to this bonus disc. Please don't expect anything of mind blowing musical quality of importance! Just a bit of historical context. I need to compile this when I get back from the current PT US tour, so I don't know exactly how much music will be on there yet, but I hope at least 30-40 minutes or so. The original 2,000 copies of the disc that were going to have this free gift with them sold out very quickly, but now that we know that this archive CD will be the item in question I decided with Burning Shed to extend the offer for the bonus CD at least until the end of August. So please if you want this disc don't wait until it's too late and then get pissed at me that you have to pay silly money for it on eBay! On that subject please note that there are currently 40 copies left of the Cover Version box set, and about 15 copies of the IEM box set left - neither of which will be repressed. Sorry, I know it's been an expensive year for SW related special editions, box sets...etc...but if it's any consolation from October I don't think there will be any releases for at least 6 months or so - after that 2011 should be all about new music.

Ici, un site français sur Steven Wilson absolument remarquable, avec en particulier des discographies complètes et quelques interviews extrêmement intéressantes sur les projets Bass Communion et I.E.M. ! Un must !

Next we will be going to Greece (first shows there in 5 years), then to New York, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, and finally finishing up at the Royal Albert Hall on 14th October with a 3 hour show including a lot of music from the 90's we've not played before, or never played with Gavin (that will be the show we do in NYC too). Following that I'll be returning to the studio to continue working on 3 new studio records already in progress (SW solo album 2, Blackfield III, Akerfeldt/Wilson "Storm Corrosion"), all to be released throughout 2011.

Une question me tarraude concernant Recordings que je vais me commander cette semaine et dont Ehn-Deïss disqit qu'une partie de ces inédits se trouvait sur les DVD-A de Lightbulb sun et de stupid dream : Y'a pas moyen de trouver les inédits du DVD-A de Deadwing (autrement que sur le dvd Live) ? En fait je possède tous ces DVD-A mais j'ai pas la platine pour les lire

Il me semble que non, hélas ! Ce serait pas mal que le père Steven songe un jour à sortir un Recordings II... Avec "So-Called Friend", par exemple (l'un des rares morceaux de Porcup' que je n'ai pas) !
